Short Sketch Collections
By Detour Theatre Playwrights

"Five dynamic short sketches for just $10".

Length: 3 to 6 Minutes
Audience: All sketches are ideally suited to Teen and Adult audiences.

Short Sketch Collection One:
1. Time, space & lemons: Four friends discuss evolution (and the origin of the lemon!) only to discover that God does make sense after all. This is a very funny script that packs a powerful punch!
2. Masks: "Masks" is all about the masks we wear to hide the true person or feelings inside. Two brief messages have been suggested for the end of the drama or you can create your own.
3. The Cross: Compromise and the way we try to market Jesus is the theme of "The Cross". Steve (or Stephanie) has some advice for Jesus about the image of the cross and how he can best represent his Lord.
4. The Bridge: Suicide is the theme of this script. Although there is a lot of humor the drama is also mixed with compassion and hope.
5. Spark Plug: Spark Plug is a script about how an encounter with Jesus can suddenly turn a cynic into a seeker. Mike isn't a "bad person", he just hasn't met Jesus yet. . .but he's about to!

Short Sketch Collection Two:
1. Heroes: Evangelism as an heroic act is the theme of "Heroes". The fictitious heroes of the silver screen are idolized while the real heroes around us go unnoticed.
2. The Fly By Night Travel Agency: How we get to heaven us the theme of this drama. Rogue Travel Agents Bert and Jane can sell you a holiday to anywhere, but will Dan buy their trip to Heaven?
3. Parable of the Prodigal Son: The Humble Players of Great Righteousness have worked on a new interpretation of this great parable. This is a fun script as well as a springboard for more serious discussion on the Father's love for those who have strayed.
4. Waiting for Goldo:
Humankinds searching for God is the theme of this humorous script. Bruce has found his creator but Shirley isn't convinced that God would live in fish bowl.
5. Devil's Delight: Devil's Delight is a humorous look at the day in the life of a couple of demons. Everything is going well for Slime and Grime until they bite off more than they can chew. In style and theme, this script is reminiscent of C. S. Lewis' book The Screwtape Letters.

Short sketch Collection Three
1. Confusion: God is our designer and is therefore the best one to repair His creation. Set at the counter of an electrical repair shop this sketch sees Ashley learning that his DVD player is not the only thing in need of repair by the "manufacturer".
2. Tattoos and White Collars: Will Chris ever figure out that he is judging people based on their appearances? This wacky script highlights the way we judge others while accepting our own failings.
3. The Drowning Man: This short sketch uses clever irony to expose the excuses we often use not to evangelize.
4. Technologically Speaking: Are we dependent upon technology to communicate the Gospel at the expense of personal involvement? Two friends try to figure out the best way to share the love of Jesus with a non-christian friend and come to a simple conclusion.
5. The Stinky Job: While putting off changing her little sisters diaper Mandy learns that reaching out to an "un-cool" girl at school is another “stinky job" she is avoiding.
